Free Summer Activities

This summer Coeden Fach has been very fortunate to receive funding from Swansea Council’s COAST fund (Creating Opportunities Across Swansea Together) which is enabling us to hold a number of free events through the summer at our site in Clyne Gardens.

Biodiversity Walk

Tuesday 18th August, 10am – 1pm
A guided walk around the Coeden Fach site with local ecologist Sian Musgrove. Come and see our environment like never before as we are taken on a tour of the flora and fauna of site, with Sian’s expert eye finding things we easily miss on a walk.

Learn to create a Wildlife Pond

Thursday 20th, 10am – 1pm
Learn how to build a wildlife pond with local ecologist Sian Musgrove. She’ll talk us through how to construct a pond, and will be on hand to answer all your questions, including location, materials and planting. She will then lead a pond dipping session on our ‘new’ pond which is not yet two years old but which is teeming with life.

Make your own Bird Box

Tuesday 25th August, 10am – 1pm
Come along and construct a wildlife habitat to take home and install in your garden or put up in Coeden Fach. The session will be led by Richard, a Coeden Fach volunteer with many years of engineering experience. All materials and tools will be provided, and you don’t need previous experience. You must be 18+ to join this event, and due to the limited number of spaces available, registration is required.

Bat Walk

Wednesday 26th August 7:45 pm onwards
Come along at dusk to hear about the habits of these delightful little mammals. Di Clark from the Glamorgan Bat Group will lead us on short walk through Coeden Fach and Clyne Gardens to observe the bats in flight as they search for food. Bat detectors will be provided but you are welcome to bring your own if you have one.

All of these events will be held at the Coeden Fach site which means stout footwear and appropriate clothing for the season. Refreshments will be provided for all events with the exception of the bat walk.

There is no charge for any of the events, but registration is required for the ‘Make your own Bird Box’ event.
